Southbridge offers two distinct programs—both rooted in the same Christian Montessori philosophy, each shaped for a different rhythm of family life.

Homeschool Hybrid

How our school began

The foundation of our school. Our 3-Day homeschool-hybrid program is designed for families who homeschool—or are exploring homeschooling—and want the structure and support of a classroom community. Students receive instruction in language arts, math, geometry, Bible, history, and geography Monday through Wednesday.

The remaining days offer families the flexibility to learn on their own terms—whether through science at home, travel, or deeper exploration of interests. Students ages 7 and up are registered homeschoolers with their district, and we're happy to guide families who are new to homeschooling.

Private Academy

New for 2026–2027 · Friday early release at 1 p.m.

Our private academy experience. New for the 2026–2027 school year, the 5-Day program offers a comprehensive Montessori education for families seeking small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a complete academic experience.

Designed for students coming from public school, private school, or transitioning from homeschooling, this program provides everything needed for a strong, supported early education. Southbridge enrolls students as a private academy and administers required annual standardized testing in accordance with Minnesota state guidelines.

Bible & Faith Formation

Bringing stories and faith to life

Each week we explore Bible stories and a verse of the week—nurturing faith, wisdom, and character. These lessons invite children to reflect, ask questions, and find inspiration for daily life.

Language Arts

Reading, writing, grammar, and a growing vocabulary

Reading — building strong bridges

Reading instruction is personalized to each child's stage—whether they're developing phonics skills, exploring story elements, or deepening comprehension—so they become confident, thoughtful readers.

Grammar — making sense of language

Students learn parts of speech and sentence structure, discovering how language works through hands-on analysis and engaging activities.

Writing — expressing ideas with purpose

From brainstorming and drafting to mastering sentence types, punctuation, and capitalization, we help students find their writing voice. Different styles and structured practice encourage both creativity and clarity.

Vocabulary across the curriculum

New words and concepts are woven into every subject, so children build a strong vocabulary as they explore reading, writing, science, history, and beyond.

Mathematics

Numbers, patterns, and problem solving

Our math program is comprehensive—covering counting, number sense, patterns, and operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and beyond. Students learn through hands-on activities and real-world story problems.

Exploring advanced concepts

Older students dive into graphing, estimating, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, exponents, and even variables—always at the pace that fits their readiness.

Geometry

Shapes, space, and spatial reasoning

Children study two- and three-dimensional shapes, lines, angles, polygons, and circles. Geometry lessons build an understanding of spatial relationships and prepare students for more advanced math.

History

Connecting past and present

Through calendar work, timelines, and the study of ancient civilizations, students explore the story of humanity. We examine the fundamental needs of people around the world and throughout time, making history meaningful and relatable.

Science

Hands-on exploration of God's creation

Science comes to life through outdoor exploration and engaging experiments. Children are encouraged to observe, ask questions, and wonder at the natural world.

Geography

Discovering our world

Students learn about continents, oceans, flags, land and water forms, and biomes. With map skills and continent studies, geography comes alive—helping children see their place in a global community.

The home connection

Your Family's Role in Learning at Home

We believe learning happens everywhere—not just in the classroom. Our micro school covers essential subjects each week, but there's a whole world to discover beyond school days.

What you choose to explore at home is entirely up to your family. Use this time to reinforce, revisit, or dive deeper into the areas that best fit your child's interests and needs.

Bible & Faith Formation: Spend time learning together in ways that feel meaningful to your family—reading, discussion, music, or other activities. The freedom to choose is yours.
Language Arts: Keep reading at home to your child's stage and reinforce phonics, story elements, and comprehension. Drafts started at school come home for revision and editing; spelling, handwriting, literature, and typing can be added as your child is ready—just ask us for suggestions.
Mathematics: Explore math in daily life—telling time, counting money, measuring, cooking, and more. Everyday activities offer countless opportunities for practical learning.
History, Geography & Science: Follow your child's curiosity through books, documentaries, experiments, field trips, or family projects. Anything you want to learn together is encouraged—the possibilities are endless.
